About

A photo taken by my oldest “H”.

God has granted me a heart for hospitality, which I count as a blessing. Feeding people is my passion. Although, serving others has looked different for me through the years. From working as a healthcare professional after college, to getting a “taste” of catering (no pun intended) at a well established facility who treated me like family and gave me my wings… I’ve landed where my heart belongs. Serving those in Union County, my home community, has been the goal all along, though life has provided a few twists and turns. I want a catered meal to be an option for everyone. I want a “homemade” meal to be available to every family table. I want your celebration to surround food prepared just for you and your special occasion.

Why hummingbirds? Glad you asked! We’ve all had those who inspire us and I’m fortunate to call one such person my grandmother (or Mammaw, to most everyone who knew her). Though there are many others that share a similar influential role in my life, she’s to whom I attribute my love for cooking. As many of you can attest (if you were blessed to know her), she was more than willing to share a recipe or a sampling of her latest creation. I have inherited said recipes, both those handed down through generations and some collected along the way. She was never more content than in her kitchen or on her front porch watching the hummingbirds. This has been a dream of mine for quite a while, however I never expected it to be in her memory. Not that she wasn’t deserving. But as we all tend to do, I had hoped for more time. Time to share these ideas with her and let her see them come to fruition. When she passed last year, I knew this should be in her honor.

The “HH” has a bit more significance than just an abbreviation. It just so happens to represent my babies (who aren’t so much babies anymore). My little aspiring chef’s have been such an inspiration (or instigation) for me to be creative with food. They are typically willing to try anything and they enjoy being in the kitchen. My hope is that their love for food will reach beyond just nutritional benefits into a means for fellowship and giving. Then there’s my partner in crime, crafting, and the kitchen… my mom. She is always willing to help, no matter what is asked of her, and I’d venture to say she’s my biggest fan. Lastly, though he deserves the most recognition for all the love and support (and manual labor) that he has poured into my dreams becoming a reality, there’s my husband. Whom I have yet to incorporate into the logo, sorry honey 😉 Maybe one day. These folks, along with the rest my wonderful family and friends, have lighted the way to the beginning of this exciting journey and I couldn’t be more appreciative to them AND to you all for joining us along the way.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about us. Now please, let us cook for you.
